Dunsandle Castle is a ruined tower house in County Galway, Ireland. Located 3 miles north of Loughrea, it was built in the late 15th century by the de Bermingham family. The castle was built on the site of an earlier Norman stone fortification, and it is believed to incorporate many of the features of the original Norman structure. The castle was fall of the Bermingham family in the 16th century and passed to the Moore family, who continued to hold it until the early 20th century.
The castle has a slate roof, and the walls are still 2 meters thick in places. Inside, there are two large vaults, an arched three-light mullioned window, and a garderobe. Part of the south wall has collapsed, and a 19th-century gable entrance was added on the east side of the tower.
The castle was later used as a police station, and it was renovated between 1931-33. In more recent years, it has been a tourist attraction and it has also been used as a location for movies and television. It now forms part of a privately owned estate.
