The Moscow metro (or metro) is a key part of the city’s public transport system. This is the easiest and fastest way around Moscow. It connects all parts of the city with 14 lines and 215 stations.

Main information about the Moscow metro:

Opening hours: 5:30 to 1:00.

  • The ticket price for one trip is 55 rubles (~ 0.8 euros)
  • Tickets are valid for all stations in any direction.
  • Tickets can be purchased at ticket offices or self-service terminals.
  • Free Wi-Fi is available in all Moscow metro cabins.
  • Most railway stations, including all three stations that provide high-speed Aeroexpress trains (Kievsky, Paveletsky, and Belorussky), are located near stations on the Koltsevaya line.

At Vnukovo Airport, take bus 911 to Salaryevo metro station, then change to the red line and go to Okhotny Ryad metro station. If you prefer a more expensive option, go from Vnukovo Airport by Aeroexpress to Kiyevskaya metro station, change to the blue line, and go to Ploshchad Revolutsii metro station. Then walk a few hundred meters.

From Domodedovo Airport to Paveletsky Railway Station, take the Aeroexpress, then transfer to Paveletskaya Metro Station and go to Okhotny Ryad Metro Station. Alternatively, take the Domodedovo bus or minibus to Domodedovskaya Metro Station and then to Teatralnaya Metro Station.

You can also take a regular or shuttle bus from Sheremetyevo Airport to Rechnoy Vokzal or Voykovskaya Metro Stations. Okhotny Ryad Metro Station is less than a 30-minute drive away. Shuttle buses also run from Söremetyevo to Shodnenskaya and Planernaya Metro Stations. You can get to Red Square quickly by metro, but you are ready to switch between Pushkinskaya and Tverskaya metro stations. Aeroexpress takes you to Belorussky Train Station. Then take the metro from Belorusskaya Metro Station to Teatralnaya Metro Station.
