The Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Dviete, Latvia is a historical Roman Catholic Church which is named after the Polish saint who is the patron of youth. The original wooden structure of the church, which was built in 1677, was a small one room building. In 1735 work began on a larger three-story stone structure that incorporated the old wooden building into the new structure. The works included the construction of a tower with Baroque carvings and other decorative elements. The interior was decorated with frescoes and painted decorations by various artists and the church was opened for services in 1759. The church was looted and damaged during the Soviet occupation of Latvia in 1940, but the building survived and was restored in the late 1980s by the then temple trustee Algisi Vedinš. The church is considered an architectural and cultural heritage of Latvia and its bell tower is the tallest in northern Kurzeme. Today the most important services of Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka are masses, baptisms and weddings. The bell tower is the tallest of all northern Kurzeme churches and its bells are used to indicate the time of day or the beginning of a service. The church holds concerts and special events on a regular basis, and it provides the local community with a place of worship and sanctuary. The church also has a small museum in the bell tower of the building which displays a collection of religious artifacts.
