St. Elizabeth's Church In Estonia: History,Facts, & Services
History:
The site of St. Elizabeth's Church was originally the location of a Jesuit college founded in 1746. The old college was destroyed by a fire in 1806, and the new church was built shortly after on the same grounds. Originally the church was a wooden structure but it was eventually replaced with a brick one during the early part of the 19th century. In 1834, the church was taken over by the Jesuits again and they continued to serve the faithful in the city until 1921 when the church was closed by Estonian authorities. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Estonia.

The facade of St. Elizabeth's Church is entirely Baroque in style, with a bell tower at the front. The interior of the church is decorated with a neo-Baroque fresco, stucco works, and a number of stained glass windows. The church also houses numerous religious artifacts and works of art, such as a wooden crucifix created by the famous Estonian sculptor Eugen Ellermaa in 1940.

The primary service provided by St. Elizabeth's Church is Mass, which is celebrated every Sunday in both English and Estonian. Aside from Mass, the church also offers a variety of other services such as baptisms, weddings, and other religious ceremonies. The church also is home to Catholic youth groups, prayer meetings, and retreats.This beautiful church in Estonia has made a lot of significance in the past.
