1. Lincoln Monuments

2. Marquette Building

The Marquette Building was designated as one of Chicago’s landmarks in 1975 and was built in the early 1890s, being an early example of a steel-framed skyscraper. This structure was quite stunning when it first opened with an underlying steel framework structure and terra-cotta exterior. The historic building in Chicago is named after Jacques Marquette, a French Jesuit missionary and explorer who lived in the area from 1674 to 1675. Features include a roomy, light octagonal entryway with mosaic boards made by Tiffany’s, just as various bronze busts of early adventurers.

3. Tribune Tower

Built between 1922 and 1925, and now one of the best monuments in Chicago, the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower was originally created when the city’s Tribune newspaper held a competition to design a tower. With a prize of USD 50,000, the competition attracted almost 300 entrants and was awarded to the architectural firm of Hood and Howell. This tall tower in height measures some 462 feet. With many famous stones embedded on the lower walls, including a moon rock and fragments of rock from the Alamo, the Colosseum and the Chinese Wall, the Tribune Tower ranks amongst the city’s most beautiful man-made monuments of the 1920s.

The Old Colony Building is an especially splendid historic skyscraper situated in the Loop district, dating back to 1894. Featuring a sizable dome, numerous intricate sculptures, large meeting rooms, and stylish furniture, there is also a museum with exhibitions of medals. Stands in the heart of Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain came into being in 1927. It is serving as an artistic representation of Lake Michigan and its nearby states. It represents the states of Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin including a number of seahorses. When the central jet rises to around 150 feet / 45 meters, the fountain set to music shows tend to fall on the hour and last roughly 20 minutes. At 22:00, the last show commences and this is a perfect time to be the witness of the illuminations. Of note, the fountain does not operate in winter and starts up again in April.

15. Carson Pirie Scott

Sited near the Millennium Park and the slim Legacy Tower, Carson Pirie Scott is saturated with history and was at one time the most significant retail establishment in Chicago.
