The construction of the church started in 1388 on the orders of Emperor Charles IV. He owned the church until 1406, when it was given to the town's hospital and dedicated to Saint Lucy. The late-Gothic artistry of the church was finished in 1453 and is a notable example of Gothic architecture in the Czech Republic. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Czechia.
