The Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary in Czechia is a Roman Catholic church located in the Zizkov district of the city of Prague in the Czech Republic. The original Gothic building was built in 1403, and today it is one of the most popular pilgrimage churches in the country. It is a three-nave basilica with a Baroque facade, where the most important services are held. Its main altar holds a painting of the Assumption of Mary by the Renaissance painter Karel Škréta, and its altars are adorned with various other paintings and sculptures of saints. Pilgrims come to the church to venerate the miraculously preserved skull of Mary Magdalene, which was found here in the 16th century. Various other services are provided here, such as the Annual Procession with the relic of Mary Magdalene, as well as various Masses throughout the year. The church is also home to an active community of Benedictine nuns.
