Church of Our Lady of Týn - Kutná Hora in Czechia is a Gothic church located in Kutná Hora, Czech Republic. It is one of the most significant Gothic structures in the country, known for its two Gothic towers at each end of the church, steep roof and an elaborate astronomical clock. It was first mentioned in 1293 and has been added to, restored and reconstructed over the centuries. It is now listed in the registry of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. It is one of the best churches in Czechia which you must visit.

History:

 The Church of Our Lady of Týn was first documented in 1293, however the archaeological findings indicate that it probably existed as early as the 11th century. The church underwent a series of renovations over the centuries. A number of additions, such as vaults, galleries, and a bell tower were done in 1476. In 1621, the church was heavily damaged by the Thirty Years’ War. Between 1704 and 1710, the church underwent a major reconstruction including the addition of the two towers at the ends of the church. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Czechia.

The church stands at 69 meters long and 35 meters wide and can accommodate 3,000 people. The towers are 79 meters high and the largest one houses an astronomical clock known as the Týnek Orloj, which dates to the mid-17th century and is believed to be the oldest working astronomical clock in the world.
