Murau - Saint Matthew is a Roman Catholic church located in Murau, Austria. The church was built in 1790 and is known for its Baroque Hallenkirche style and elaborate interior. It is famous for its statue of St. Matthew, which is believed to have been created by the famous Viennese sculptor Coronoa Schmelzer. Murau - Saint Matthew is the oldest church in Murau and is listed as a protected historical building. The barrel vaulted nave was constructed in 1520, and the Baroque hallenkirche was completed in 1790. Inside, the church features paintings by Johann Georg Dammer and a polychrome by Staiger. There are two organs, a gallery organ built in 1796, and the Von Geiszl organ which was installed in 1820. Murau - Saint Matthew
