St. Katherine Church in Slovenia is a 14th-century Roman Catholic church located in the small hillside village of Grobuški Vinogradi, northeast of Varaždin in Zagorje region, Croatia. The church was first mentioned in 1214 in a document written by Hilda, the widow of Ulrich II of Celje, and is believed to be the first church of its kind in the region. It was built in the Gothic style and still stands today as an example of medieval architecture. It is one of the best churches in Slovenia which you must visit.

History:

It is thought that the church was constructed in the late 13th century, by master builders from Vienna and Styria. The building was consecrated in 1474, by the bishop of Zagreb, and later enlarged in 1653. The church underwent extensive redecoration in the Baroque style in the 18th century. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Slovenia.
