Saint Peter and Saint Tabitha Russian Orthodox Church in Palestine is a Russian Orthodox church located in the city of Bethlehem, Palestine. It is one of the oldest churches in the area, older than the famous Church of the Nativity. The church was built in 1771 by members of the Tsaritsyn Regiment, a group of Russian soldiers led by general Alexander Mikhailovich Golitsyn. The church is dedicated to the memory of St. Peter and St. Tabitha, the beloved figures of Christianity. The building itself is a simple domed structure with a traditional Islamic style window in the cupola, painted bright colors. It is known for its unique collection of icons and its simple beauty. Inside the church, visitors can hear the melodious chanting of the choir and smell the intricate incense burning throughout the service. The church currently serves mostly local Palestinians, but it is open to visitors from around the world.
