The Nauru Independent Church is a Protestant Church established in 1947 following the Australian and New Zealand Military Administration (ANZMA) after World War II. The first pastor of Nauru Independent Church was a Captain of the Salvation Army. The Church's main focus is providing spiritual and physical care for the people of Nauru. History:

In the late 1940s, a number of Nauruans stated to adopt Protestantism. In 1947 they formed the Nauru Independent Church with the help of the Australian and New Zealand Military Administration (ANZMA). The first Pastor was a Captain from the Salvation Army who devoted a great deal of time and energy to the promotion of the new church. The Church has experienced a major expansion over the past 30 years. From the 1950s it was the only independent church on the island, but with the influx of immigrants from the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand in the 1980s, many new founded denominations and missions set up on the island. In recent years the Church has expanded its resources and outreach, whilst striving to remain true to its core values of independence and self-reliance. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Nauru.
