History:

Saint Joseph's Church was built with funds donated by Johann Kristoff Eglof, the superintendent of Riga in 1750. Constructed in the period between Queen Elizabeth's patronage of the church (1741–1760) and Catherine's rule of Latvia and the Baltic region (1762–1796), Saint Joseph's Church was an expression of the transition of power from the German to the Russian Empire. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Latvia.
