Rukmini Temple In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Rukmini Temple is a 7 story temple and is a model of the holy city of Dvarka. The temple is constructed in the Nagara style of architecture and stands on a high plinth. The main temple is around 50 feet in height and it has a conical tower of 24 feet height. The temple is adorned with carved images of Gods and Goddesses and the carvings are supposed to have been made during the time of Krishna. Rukmini Temple This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent feature of the Rukmini Temple is the large black stone image of Goddess Rukmini, consort of Lord Krishna. The idol is carved out of a single rock and is believed to be over 2500 years old. Other important features of the temple include ornate pillars, sculptures of Garuda and Nagaraja, Krishna Lila scenes, sculptures of Radha and Murli Manohar and many other intricate architectural wonders.
