History:
St. John of Nepomuk was born in Bohemia in the late 14th century and was eventually appointed Vicar General of Bohemia by the King of Bohemia. He is famous for defending the church's right to keep and protect the confession of faith and its secrets. His martyrdom was marked and celebrated by later generations with the building of a church in his honor. The Church of St. John of Nepomuk-Zelená Hora was constructed by Jan Blazej Santini-Aichel, an Italian-trained architect. It was built in a distinctive Baroque style and is the only circular rotunda in the whole of Central Europe. The round design is supposed to symbolize the eternal life of the soul after death. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Czechia.

The circumference of the church is divided into three sections by four pairs of columns. It is topped with a dome and lantern and measures 33 metres in diameter. The frescos and paintings on the ceilings of the church depict several aspects of John's life and martyrdom.
Services:
The church is open daily from 8 am to 6 pm and admission is free. Tours of the church can be organized but require prior arrangement. The church also hosts historical symphonies and organ concerts throughout the year.This beautiful church in Czechia has made a lot of significance in the past.
