Church of Our Lady Victorious and The Infant Jesus of Prague is a Catholic church located in the Lesser Town area of Prague, Czech Republic. It is dedicated to Our Lady Victorious and the Infant Jesus of Prague, an image that was introduced in 1629 by Princess Polyxena of Lobkowicz. The History of the Church of Our Lady Victorious and The Infant Jesus of Prague dates back to the 17th century. In the early 1620s, Emperor Ferdinand II commissioned the Prague architect Giovanni Domenico Orsi to create a new Baroque style building that could house the relic of a statue of the Infant Jesus, which had been rescued from Spain by Princess Polyxena following the Battle of the White Mountain. The church was built and consecrated in 1635, and the image of the Infant Jesus of Prague was enshrined inside. The original image of the Infant Jesus is known as the “Vinvticensis” and is thought to have been sculpted sometime between 1572 and 1578 by Florentine sculptor Clemente Susini. According to legend, this image was brought to Prague by Princess Polyxena and placed in a chapel near the church before eventually being moved to its current home in 1637. Since then, the church has been associated with numerous miracles and healings.
