Feb 7, 2020 Japan
You have your ticket and booked your flights and accommodation. You will eventually go to Japan for the 2021 Olympics. Tokyo is always an amazingly busy city that can be absolutely overwhelming and better believe it will go crazy during such an exciting global event. If you want to make the most of your time in Tokyo and make sure you don’t shy away from defending yourself, here are some tips for traveling to Tokyo Olympics 2021 so you can recall wonderful memories in a one-time event in this life.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that travelers be up-to-date on all routine vaccines before traveling to Japan. Examples of routine vaccines include the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine and chickenpox vaccine. Additional vaccines may be recommended depending on what activities you plan to do and which areas of Japan you want to visit.

Anything worth going to Tokyo is worth the long wait. The Japanese are not afraid to stand in line for a long time. This means that if there are local events you want to reach between Olympic events, you need to plan an extra budget of at least half an hour to an hour for each event that requires you to enter a venue.
If you’re not from a big city yourself, or you’re not used to it, Tokyo is the biggest. Loud and bright, sensual overload so you can easily be distracted and lose your way. Before you break out of your hotel room, make sure you have free Wi-Fi and pay close attention to Google Maps. The colors of the train found and the departure times are important on extremely busy platforms such as Shinjuku or Shibuya. Keep in mind that, unlike many North American cities, Tokyo hurts free Wifi and is hard to reach. This leads well to my next question.
In Japan, comfort is king. However, free, accessible wifi in downtown Tokyo is not so royal. However, you can get a monthly fee for pocket wifi, which gives you plenty of data and is right in your wallet. Check out a personal favorite of mine, Pupuru. You can even take these to Narita or your hotel so you never get embarrassed, huddled in a Mcdonalds or 711, and don’t try to pick up Google Maps.
So many people don’t realize that Japan is completely boiling in the summer. It is not uncommon for them to break to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) and the humidity makes them even warmer. As mentioned above, you can stick to standing up for longer or walk long distances, be sure to stay hydrated and apply this sweat-resistant SPF to prevent hyperthermia. Water is great, electrolyte heavy drinks are better in this kind of climate. Pocari Sweat is a funny name and a great moisturizer. For a less sugary option, I also recommend Ion Water or Green Dakara. Anything called “Sportital” will work great. In addition, any convenience store has cheap ice cream, sports drinks, sunscreens, and a number of products to cool your skin, such as hairspray and hygienic wipes. Take a few minutes to grab what attracts you. But keep in mind that many of these products contain alcohol, so drying is often not suitable for people with sensitive skin. Please keep in mind that summer heatstroke is really a concern in Japan.

Yes, even in 2021, Japan will remain a money-centric society. Although you can use your credit card at some restaurant chains or hotels, some shops or mother-pop clothes, and many food stalls at shrines and churches, only cash is available. In Japan, it’s not uncommon for a few people to always carry a yen, at least make sure you always have $ 100 (* or a rough one yen). Tokyo can be overwhelming, but it’s amazingly fun. You just have to practice a little preparation. As long as you plan ahead, you can deal with anything that gets in your way and stay in Japan relatively stress-free.
The opportunity to watch the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is definitely a great opportunity! But remember, you are traveling to a foreign country. If you’ve never been to Japan before, you need to make sure you’re properly prepared. Keep the above tips for traveling to Tokyo Olympics 2021 in mind.
