In an effort to increase tourism in the area, the Center has approved a request by the Rajasthan Tourism department to turn the Shri Tanot Complex in Jaisalmer into a tourist destination. Additionally, the Center has approved INR 17.67 crore for infrastructure improvement and tourism-related activities in the area.




There are many legends of various battle heroisms and cultural legacies in these remote desert regions close to the border, which will probably draw tourists. According to sources, the most recent project will offer more convenient and safe access to the location.

Along with other national organizations and the Border Security Force (BSF), Rajasthan Tourism launched this program to provide tourists with a better understanding of local culture.

According to sources, the government plans to develop additional facilities in Tanot hamlet in the Jaisalmer region, including an interpretation center, amphitheater, restaurant, children’s play area, solar-powered street lighting, and monitoring system, signs, and other amenities. The BSF would be in charge of organizing tourist exhibitions as well as running and maintaining the tourist attractions.




Longewala, which is near the border and is well-known for the valor shown by the Indian armed forces in the conflict with Pakistan in 1971, is located in that region. The Tanot Mata Temple also draws a tonne of visitors practically every day, making the location a popular tourist attraction.

The BSF will also host a weapon display, a documentary screening, and a photo exhibition at the Operations Base in Jaisalmer as part of tourism-related events.
