The festival was started in 1991 by Perry Farrell who was the vocalist of the famous band Jane’s Addiction. He commenced this music festival as a ‘farewell tour’ which eventually became big. After seven years, in 1998, the existence of this festival was menaced with permanent closure.
After a few years of uncertainty and ambiguity, Perry Farrell decided to restart this music festival in 2003-04. The first show was held in Chicago, America and after that, it only grew bigger and stronger.
Today, this four-day festival is held in Grand Park, Chicago, America every summer. Besides America, Lollapalooza was held in other countries including Sweden, Germany, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and France. Now coming next year in Asia, India will be the first Asian country to host this iconic music festival.
