The government of Rome has imposed fines on people who were caught drinking and eating at famous ancient fountains to keep the area clean. EURO 450 ($455) was charged to a 55-year-old traveler who was found eating and drinking while sitting beside Fontana dei Catecumeni.
As per the report, the fountain is one of the most ancient sites in Rome which was constructed in the 16th century. The old man broke the rule and decorum by eating and drinking beside the fountain. And addition to this, a heavy charge is imposed on travelers breaking the laws. Other Italian towns, besides Rome, have enacted similar restrictions on these individuals. Recent years have seen an increase in over-tourism in Italy. Due to this, more people were receiving fines for disobeying the law nationwide.
To avoid getting in such trouble make sure to read the warning boards and abide by the rule. Eat only at a specific place because there are a lot of ancient monuments and beautiful lakes in Rome. Even on beaches, you cannot do certain things.
