Europe registered one of the hottest summer seasons this year where Britain recorded 40° celsius breaking all the records. This led to the meltdown of traffic lights, drought in some parts, and cracking roads. Regardless, the heatwave has not impacted much on the tourism industry in Europe. Now, countries are coming up with green and sustainable travel for tourists.

The extreme heat has yet again compelled the countries to look upon the drastic climate change and establish norms of the Paris Climate Change Agreement accord. The heat recorded this year was not experienced for over centuries which is why Western countries are worried about the rapid climate change.

Paris is the victim of climate change and has come up with a concrete plan to curb global temperature. It is a prime city which offers various kinds of activities and picturesque scenery. Paris is set to develop small portions of parks with all types of trees to create a suitable atmosphere and bring down the temperature. This initiative is named “islands of freshness.”

The government has planned to plant around 170,000 trees by the end of 2026. From schools to streets every corner in Paris will be reformed with lush greenery.

The experts have termed the 2022 heatwave in Europe as the wake-up call against what they call the “urban heat island effect” which needs concrete action to retain heat. We can reduce this urban heat island effect by planting trees and reforming our land for the future generation.

Every plan faces some criticism and environmentalist in France has argued that the government is planning to cut down some old and big trees to create a path for green gardens.

We tend to act in the interests of the larger good. But while city administration considers the advantages and disadvantages of this matter, we can look into other ways to make our cities more environmentally friendly and comfortable.
