The most important Spanish national art museum is also known as the Prado Museum and is located in Madrid. It prides itself on having the best European art collections, dating from the 12th century to the beginning of the 20th century. It is based on Spain’s former royal collection. It has a brilliant display of artworks by artists such as Goya, Velazquez, Raphael, Rubens, and Bosh. The museum is housed in a neo-classical building that opened as a museum in 1819. It has more than 7,000 paintings, but only 1,500 of them are on display now. If someone is an art lover, it would be highly recommended to come with an entire day.
